A fun night with the Germans.

Very tasty potato pancakes.

Genius belt buckle - spot the subtle colour difference.

We went to the Rothskeller for some German grub and a sing song.

Anna's first... cup cake.

We'll see if my pumpkin turns out as good as this.

Barb also took me on a beautiful Autumn day to Franklyn cider mill for cider and warm doughnuts. MMMMMmmmmm. DEEEEEElicious.

Barb kindly took me to downtown ( I feel sooooo American saying that!) Royal Oak for hot apple cider (non alcoholic in America) and my first cup cake.

Anna's amazing photography skills.

More to follow when I work out how to download the photos from Kris's camera - macro lense here i come.

Let's see how i got on with my pink camera...

Delta Kappa Gamma

It was lovely to meet so many people dedicated to children's future.

I shared my timetable - they were shoked by the number of subjects that I taught - but not as shocked at the planning!!

I was honoured to go and talk to a group of teachers that form the Clawson Delta Kappa Gamma group. They meet to discuss education and raise funds to assist education projects that they see fit.

Chicago Baby!!!

The Willis Tower(AKA Sears tower) - i shall return to step out on the glass floors of the skywalk at the top.
Us with the lovely Sean - who paid for all our drinks all night just because we talked to him - I have full faith in human kindness.

This is the view from the girls' bathroom on the 96th floor of the Hancock Tower.

Sarah and Barb on Michigan bridge.

Millenium park may have been opened in 2004 but it sure is great.

The 'bean'.

Chicago's famous deep dish pizza.

Thank you to Barb, Sarah, Paula, Duane, Chris and Sean (wherever you are) for a great weekend.

Life at Kenbrook Elementary so far

Our growing seeds.

The computer lab - I love it - a whole computer for each child!

Teaching has so far involved a lively assembly from the Detroit Pistons and Hooper their mascot, growing seeds, a PJ party for our class treat and lots of practise at our class routines. We have also had an 'Open Night' - the kids had a list of things to show the parents and it was great fun. I have been on my first duty - at the crossing and still smile at the fact the yellow buses are really real. I have even been running with some friends at school - the Americans are putting me to shame at the moment but i will catch up - hopefully.

My first swim in Cass Lake

Barb and i had a lovely picnic to celebrate me swimming in a lake for the very first time. Still find it strange that they have beaches at the lakes.

WARNING!

Just as a word of warning - keep fingers away from ceiling fans - especially when they're going at full speed.

Detroit Zoo.

Thanks guys.

An itchy nose.

Nancy and the kids invited me to join them for a day at the zoo.

Welcome teachers.

Wow what a welcome - a picnic for the borough's teachers - even a marching band and cheerleaders - teachers are so loved here.

Life on the ocean(well lake) wave.

This is definitely the way to spend Labour day.

Mel's lovely uncle John and auntie Mary take me out on their boat.

The Weekend at Loon Lake.

Anna - the all action girl.

I'm a lumberjack and i'm ok.

This is how the lumberjacks were fed.

One day this will be mine...

Down on the shores of the lake with Barb and Paula.

Lucy enjoys the morning view.

Duane and Paula (and Lucy) invited Barb and I to enjoy the beautiful cottage at Loon Lake in Hale.
